Signet's eco-friendly paper tape solution has helped bespoke ceramics business, Pottery for the Planet, improve the quality of their deliveries and eliminate transit damages.
After recognising the growing issue with disposable coffee cups, eco-activists Renton and Clare, created Pottery for the Planet. With Renton being a second-generation potter, they set out on their mission to help eradicate the single-use culture by cultivating a range of bespoke handmade ceramic travel cups.
Through their unique and high-quality designs, they aim to save over 10 million disposable coffee cups from entering landfills. Today, they continue to build on this mission and have since expanded their range to include travel bowls and other dinnerware.
Helping the world reduce their environmental impact is the foundation on which Pottery for the Planet was built. So, it’s only natural that they wanted this to be carried out through all areas of their business, including their packaging.
From day one, sustainable packaging was non-negotiable for Pottery for the Planet, but being a ceramics business, so was protection. This was achievable for the most part, however, the final piece they struggled with was their packaging tape.
They’d previously been using a kraft paper tape from an alternative supplier but found the quality of the adhesive was lacking and it risked the security of their deliveries.

Pottery for the Planet had already been a Signet customer for a few years, purchasing assorted cartons and consumables. So, in their mission to find a successful substitute they knew where to go. Pottery for the Planet have found the Water Activated Tape to be much more secure than their previous solution and only need one layer of tape to keep their cartons tightly sealed. Paired with the Automatic Dispenser, they’re able to use far less tape and ultimately reduce packaging costs, while still having peace of mind in the security of their deliveries.
