Marine Biologists, Louise Laing and Austin Laing-Herbert thought of People4Ocean while working on a reef restoration project in Seychelles. They realised that the sunscreen on their skin could be harming the very ecosystems they’ve dedicated their lives protecting and set out to create a reef-safe sun care brand.
Joining forces with Australian skincare label, LaGaia Unedited they produced a range of sun care products that are eco-consciously formulated to not only protect the most sensitive of skins but also our precious oceans.
People4Ocean began by selling their products through resorts and hotels, but since the start of COVID-19 have expanded their business online. Knowing what plastics can do to our oceans, they knew there was no other option but eco-friendly for their eCommerce packaging.

When People4Ocean launched their eCommerce store they were using Compostable Mailers from an alternative supplier with Kraft Paper as void fill. However, they found even with the Kraft Paper the products felt loose and unprotected inside the mailer.
Additionally, with the lack of infrastructure and access to composting bins and facilities, compostable plastics aren’t always easy to dispose of properly. So, they were looking to move to a more protective solution that was completely made from paper.
