Products Wrapped in Geami Honeycomb

Five Geami wrapping techniques to enhance your unboxing experience

We’ve got a few techniques to make your eCommerce packages look on fleek. It all starts with Geami, an eco-friendly alternative to bubble wrap used to cushion and protect fragile items in transit.

Geami is a combination of die-cut kraft paper and tissue interleaf that expands into a 3D honeycomb structure, providing an environmentally friendly solution to product protection. Below are six wrapping techniques that provide versatility when wrapping items of varying shapes and sizes to ensure you get the most from your Geami product.

Single Wrapping Technique

Technique Wrap-up: Ideal for single standard sized items

The single wrap is the OG of all Geami wrapping techniques and is the simplest technique when wrapping items using this eco-friendly wrap. The single wrap is performed by laying the item parallel to the Geami dispenser and continuing to wrap the paper around the product while folding the sides.

Bundling Wrapping Technique

Technique Wrap up: Used to wrap two or more items into a single package

The bundling technique allows two or more items to be wrapped together in a single package. This wrapping technique is performed by placing the item parallel to the dispenser and wrapping the first item in a continuous wrapping motion. Once the first item has been covered, add the second item and repeat the continuous wrapping motion while folding in the sides to form a secure package.

Snake Wrapping Technique

Technique Wrap up: Used to provide extra protection for a fragile element of an item

The snake technique is ideal for items with a fragile element that requires extra protection. Start this technique by folding down the right edge of the Geami wrap into a small triangle then roll the paper from the left-hand side into a tube to form a snake shape. Place the fragile element of the item onto the tube and wrap the item on an angle, then eventually move the item into the middle of the wrap to finish.

Crossover Wrapping Technique

Technique Wrap up: Used for wrapping an oversized item

The cross over technique is ideal for items that are larger than the width of the Geami paper. Start by only covering one side of your item in Geami and leave the other side open. Then slowly move your item around to the side that has not been covered in Geami and continue until the item is sitting 90 degrees from its original position. Continue to wrap the item until it is completely covered.

Surface Protection Wrapping Technique

Technique Wrap up: Used for items that require extra surface protection

This technique is used for items that require extra protection against scratches and surface abrasion. Start by using only the white tissue paper and wrap the item securely in the tissue. Then pick up the accompanying honeycomb wrap and fold the wrap around the white tissue paper until all of the honeycomb paper is used.

Tearing and Tucking

Technique Wrap up: Finishing technique used to accompany any of the techniques above

Tearing and tucking are finishing techniques used to accompany any of the wrapping techniques listed above. Once your item is wrapped, finish the technique by bringing your hand underneath the outside of the honeycomb wrap and pull to tear the Geami from the roll. Then fold the raw edge underneath and tuck in the paper on each side to form a secure package. This technique, in combination with the interlocking honeycomb nature of the wrap, eliminates the need for tape to seal the product.
