Frequently Asked Questions on Shipping Cartons
1. How do I select a size?
- Shipping carton dimensions are the internal dimensions to ensure your item fits properly inside. The order of the dimensions is the length followed by the width and height. If your item does not require protective packaging, select a box that is a few millimeters (mm) larger than the item you’re shipping or storing as this will provide a snug fit. If you need protective packaging or void fill allow for slightly more room so you are still able to close the carton securely.
2. What is the difference between a normal shipping carton and a heavy duty option?
- Cardboard is made by adhering 2 sheets of stiff paper to a sheet of corrugated paper. A standard cardboard box is generally made from single wall fluting which is one 1 corrugated sheet sandwiched between pieces of stiff paper. A heavy duty carton is made with double wall fluting which has an extra corrugated sheet to increase the stiffness and strength of the board.
