Polyethelene Bags
What is a plastic/poly bag?
- A poly bag, or polyethylene bag, is a packaging bag ideal for a wide range of items; particularly small objects that can be easily lost. The bag is food safe and will protect the contents from dust, dirt and water/moisture. This makes them ideal for storage, organisation, retail and many industrial applications.
- The polyethylene (plastic) is made in different thicknesses from 30um (micron) up to 200um. This means the thicker the plastic, the more tough and durable. Most bags will offer a degree of tear, scratch and puncture resistance.
Are there different types of plastic/poly bags?
- Yes. There is a poly bag available to suit most applications. Types available include light duty (30-40um), medium duty (50-75um), heavy duty (80-200um), carton liners, mattress bags, furniture bags and anti-static bags. All of these come in different shapes and sizes to provide the right fit for your items.
How do you seal a poly bag?
- The method used to seal a poly bag depends on the type and size of the bag. Light, medium and heavy duty poly bags as well as anti-static bags can be heat sealed, stapled, taped or tied depending on the requirements of the bag contents. Carton liners are sometimes just folded over the top of the items packed into the box or could be taped to avoid spillage. Mattress bags and furniture bags would generally have the ends taped to seal the bag and prevent any dust or dirt getting inside during storage or transit.
