Why does Signet's Paper Tape have an easy release coating?

• It helps the paper tape unwind easily, leading to less manual tearing, fraying and deterioration of the tape (think how some cheap masking tapes do this)
• It creates an almost silent unwind

Please note that the easy release coating means that stickers, labels and the tape itself will not stick if overlapped onto it.
