Wrapping a pallet with the Signet Bolt

Wrapping with the Signet Bolt

Welcome to the new age of hand pallet wrapping! Find out everything you need to know about how to wrap a pallet using the Signet Bolt.

So, you've made the switch to the Signet Bolt Dispenser and Film and are ready to start wrapping? Well, we're here to fill you in on all the tricks, tips, and techniques to ensure you get the most out of this solution.

Getting set up

Not only has the Signet Bolt been designed to make wrapping easy, but it’s easy to set up. To get started, all it takes is three simple steps:

  1. Sit the Bolt dispenser upright on a bench, place the core of the film roll on the bottom first and line it up with the top.
  2. Turn the knob at the top of the Bolt dispenser anti-clockwise until the film is secured in place.
  3. Continue to turn the knob anti-clockwise, tightening the film roll until you reach your desired tension.

That’s it! Now you’re ready to start wrapping your pallet.

Depending on the weight of your pallet, you may need to increase the film tension to ensure the proper load containment. To do so, repeat step three until the desired level of tension is achieved. To reduce the film's tension, just do the reverse — turn the knob clockwise, one full rotation at a time.

Wrapping your pallet

With your Signet Bolt Dispenser and Film tensioned and ready to go, it’s time to move onto the fun part, wrapping the pallet!

To get started, attach your film to a corner of the pallet and start by doing one lap of the base. Position the dispenser at a 45-degree angle, to protect from any sharp edges that exist on the pallet and continue to do one more revolution around the base.

From there start to work your way up the pallet, ensuring there is a 50% overlap of the film with each layer - this improves both the security and strength of the pallet. Signet recommends standing 250mm away from the pallet while wrapping.

Now for the easy part! Since the Signet Bolt film is pre-stretched, you don’t have to stop at each corner and stretch the film. This makes wrapping the pallet much less strenuous for the operator and more efficient.

Once you’re at the top of the pallet, secure the load with two complete revolutions, cut the film off approximately 30cm from the corner and smooth down the tail.

Wrapping heavier loads

To better secure heavier loads, hold the Signet Bolt horizontally to increase the film strength and 'rope' your film. Walk your way around the pallet applying the roped film to the centre of the cartons to hold them in place. Do this after you’ve wrapped your pallet.

Replacing your film

Luckily, removing an empty roll is even easier than setting it up! Once you’ve reached the end of the roll, simply rotate the tensioning knob clockwise until the film core is released.

By following these few simple steps, you'll be on your way to more consistent hand pallet wrapping in no time.
