After downgauging their Shrink Film, automotive accessory giant, Aeroklas Asia Pacific Group, reduced packaging costs by $25K per year and improved efficiency for the production team.
The Aeroklas Asia Pacific Group’s mission has always been to provide exceptional 4WD solutions, every day. Specialising in designing, producing and selling automated accessories across a variety of market sectors; their leading brands include Aeroklas, TJM, Flexiglass, Bocar and Tough Dog Suspension.
With their portfolio of recognisable brands continuously growing, Aeroklas Asia Pacific Group have subsequently increased the number of orders being shipped out. With increased packaging costs due to an inflated market, the team looked for a different solution to combat this, as well as fulfil their mission of reducing plastic to landfill.
Aeroklas Asia Pacific Group partnered with Signet, and together developed an improved Shrink Film solution that would help improve their environmental impact while maximising resources.
"We worked with our in-house production team on ways we could downgauge the film, whilst maintaining the film’s performance requirements.” — Marcel Suchanek, Business Development Manager, Signet.
Signet recommended downgauging from a 150um film to a 100um film, and after a successful two-month trial of the lower gauge Shrink Film, Aeroklas Asia Pacific Group permanently implemented the solution. By making the switch, Aeroklas Asia Pacific Group were able to achieve their goals of reducing plastic to landfill, and cost savings on their packaging requirements.

“By switching to a lower gauge Shrink Film we reduced our plastic to landfill by 27% and reduced our packaging costs by 20%.” — Mark Boardman, Manufacturing Manager, Aeroklas Asia Pacific Group.
Aeroklas Asia Pacific Group now use the new Shrink Film within their TJM business to wrap around their branded cartons of bull bars, which protects the products from the weather elements and assists in transportation. It has also allowed Aeroklas Asia Pacific Group to achieve their aim of being a socially responsible business by reducing their environmental footprint by downgauging their Shrink Film.
The implementation of the new Shrink Film also led to improvements across other areas of the supply chain process, including faster packaging time.
“We also noticed a reduction in production time after switching to the new Shrink Film, which resulted in increased efficiency for the warehouse team.” — Marcel Suchanek, Business Development Manager, Signet.
