Trial a different packaging tape adhesive
One way of reducing costs is to trial an alternative packaging tape adhesive. Rubber adhesive is the most common in packaging tape, however there are other more economical types available. Hot Melt packaging tape is a synthetic rubber adhesive which offers the same properties as a rubber adhesive tape, but at a cost effective price. An even cheaper alternative is Acrylic packaging tape. This adhesive performs best in cold rooms and fridges rather than in normal temperature environments.

Optimise pallet wrap consumption
There is a common misbelief that the more pallet wrap you use, the more secure your goods will be. More often than not, this only results in increased costs, time and waste for your business. Instead, we recommend increasing the stretch while using a lower gauge film, or contacting us about your wrapping configuration and techniques. Another tip is to investigate the different types of film available which are designed to perform differently in depending on your application.
Switch to Ranpak for protective void fill
Ranpak packaging such as FillPak for void filling or PadPak for cushioning is one of the most cost effective forms of void fill available. The paper can be used and reused to block, brace, coil or pad fragile items for transport or storage. Both products are made with recycled materials, which means your company is actively reducing the impact of plastic and other environmentally unfriendly products. Ranpak products also help to reduce packaging costs from the ability to re-use the paper. Another benefit of Ranpak void fill is its easy storage – it requires significantly less space when compared to alternatives like Mic Pac or bubblewrap.
Swap steel strapping for PET strapping
Steel strapping has been an industry favourite due to its heavy duty nature, strength and durability. Unfortunately however, it can be quite dangerous to use if you don’t also have the proper equipment and processes. An excellent alternative is polyester (PET) strapping which is strong, safe and economical. PET strapping has smooth edges making it safer and less accident-prone, and is also able to be recycled. It is light weight when compared to steel, however offers a similar level of strength. PET strap is designed to resist ‘creeping’ and ‘relaxing’ which reduces the chance of your load shifting or settling during transit and storage.
