February 2012
To be a successful sporting club in today’s competitive environment you need to focus on a range of areas as well as the couple of hours of game time every week. The major sporting organisations across all codes are strongly linked to their supporters through the local communities, key sponsor partnerships, junior sport and an online presence. Signet is proud to say that we sponsor the Richmond Football Club because of their outstanding commitment to their community, as well as their professionalism as a sporting entity.
In this issue of the Signet Buyer’s Guide we wanted to showcase some of the activities that our sponsorship support has gone towards at the Richmond Football Club. In 2011 the Richmond Football Club delivered more than 300 educational sessions to 3000 primary school aged students throughout Melbourne and Central Australia.
Through the Central Australia Programs the Outback Tigers focus their interaction on assisting schools increase school attendance. This program involves Richmond players speaking with Indigenous students via webcam on a weekly basis and provides rewards such as trips to Richmond games or technology rewards (provided by another corporate partner Dick Smith) for excellent school attendance.
Programs in Melbourne focus on engaging students from a culturally and linguistically diverse background in football and health education. The Club has formed a partnership with Diabetes Australia and is currently looking to build on its current school programs in 2012, which will focus on promoting the importance of physical activity and nutrition.
The opportunity to support our various partners in programs and activities such as those above is important to the Signet team and we look forward to passing on the results of these activities in the future.
